POSITION OVERVIEW

A local retailer with a strong presence in Alaska is currently looking to hire an Accounting Controller! This hire will oversee the financial & accounting operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. This role is pivotal in managing financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making and maintain financial integrity.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Prior experience with high-volume transactions
• Prior experience with retail accounting preferred but not required
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with financial software and ERP systems
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Strong leadership and communication skills
  Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Review and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy
• Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to guide business strategies
• Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures
• Support budget preparation and variance analysis
