Description Job Title: Controller FLSA: Exempt Reports to: CFO Department: Accounting Job Summary: The Controller will oversee and direct the company’s accounting operations. This includes managing financial control and accounting activities such as general and cost accounting, payables/receivables, and payroll. This role ensures compliance with company policies and regulations while providing necessary financial information. The Controller monitors plant operations against plans and prepares financial and production reports to measure and control activities and costs. They lead the financial and capital budgeting processes and recommend programs to improve productivity, increase efficiency, and reduce costs. Requirements Duties/Responsibilities: Acts as a strategic partner for C-Suite and board members. Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Maintains documented accounting policies and procedures; implements control systems to minimize risk. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Ensure proper revenue recognition, inventory valuation, and cost accounting. Maintain and improve the general ledger structure and reporting hierarchy. Own financial system integrity and reporting (e.g., NetSuite) Produces annual budgets and forecasts; reports significant variances to management. Provides financial analysis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations. Collaborates with external auditors and provides necessary information for the annual audit. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Lead and develop the accounting team (AP, AR, GL, cost accounting) Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in accounting and tax preparation software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. P&L Financial Performance Management expertise. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships. Strong leadership and team management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work across different plants. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration. Ten years or more of related experience. CPA or CMA designation preferred. Strong project management skills and the ability to convert business requirements into executable strategies. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Team building, conflict resolution, and relations management skills to create a partnering environment based on credibility, respect and trust. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform repetitive actions and frequent bending, stooping, twisting, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Visual acuity for safe and effective job task performance. Ability to lift to 15 pounds at times. Access various departments of a location. Navigate the organization’s physical premises. Travel up to 25% of the time.
