We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to join our team in Marlborough, MA. This is a critical onsite leadership role, responsible for overseeing all financial operations and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting, Finance, or related field).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 2+ years in a Controller or senior accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience with multi-state payroll, AR/AP, and monthly close.
  • Proficiency with Paychex (or similar payroll systems).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Experience implementing or transitioning to a new accounting system highly preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Monthly Close.
  • Oversee service and product invoicing, ensuring accuracy in billing and timely collections.
  • Prepare and file multi-state tax returns and payroll filings.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor bank transactions, manage ACH processing, handle exceptions, and prepare daily deposits.
  • Lead HR-related activities, including onboarding, payroll administration (Paychex), 401k, profit sharing, and defined benefit plans.
  • Prepare and file government forms (5500) and ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Handle sales tax and federal tax payments and support preparation of quarterly and annual state and federal tax filings.
  • Work closely with CPA for annual audit and tax preparation.
  • Record and reconcile journal entries and ensure accurate general ledger reporting.
  • Drive financial process improvements, including the implementation of a new accounting system.
