POSITION SUMMARY

The Controller will oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions across the family office and its diverse portfolio of businesses, including:

  • Civil Construction contracting
  • Homebuilding and Vertical Construction
  • Land Investment & Entitlement ventures
  • Holding company operations
  • General Partnership managing private investment funds

The Controller ensures the integrity of financial information, compliance with applicable regulations, and the effective management of the accounting department. This role supports strategic decision-making for ownership and executive leadership while building and leading a high-performing accounting team.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accuracy: Deliver timely, reliable reports with zero material misstatements.
  • Compliance: Maintain GAAP, tax, and fund reporting standards.
  • Control: Enforce strong financial controls across all entities.
  • Transparency: Provide owners, partners, and investors with clear, actionable financial data.
  • Efficiency: Streamline accounting operations and reduce manual processing.
  • Leadership: Build and manage a high-performing accounting department, ensuring staff are trained, accountable, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Partnership: Act as trusted advisor to ownership and leadership teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA or CPA candidate required; experience in construction and fund/partnership accounting strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in multi-entity environments (construction, development, funds).
  • Prior experience managing an accounting department or small finance team.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop/Online, construction accounting systems, and Excel modeling.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
