Assistant Controller / Controller Remote (Work From Home) Schedule: New York (EST) | Full-time Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller / Controller to lead corporate accounting and the monthly close process for a growing US-based business. This role is hands-on and focused on booking journal entries, maintaining clean general ledger records, and preparing accurate financials for reporting. This position is not AR/AP- or Treasury-heavy. We are looking for a high-quality accounting professional with strong tenure, proven stability, and the intention to grow long-term with the company. Key Responsibilities Corporate Accounting & Month-End Close Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process Prepare and post journal entries throughout the month (accruals, prepaids, amortizations, reclasses, adjustments) Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts with strong audit-ready documentation Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the general ledger in NetSuite Apply and maintain US GAAP–compliant accounting practices Financial Reporting & Audit Support Prepare schedules and support for management and external financial reporting Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reporting packages Partner with FP&A, leadership, and external accountants as needed Support audit and review processes, including responding to auditor requests Systems, Controls & Process Improvement Serve as the accounting subject-matter expert for NetSuite Maintain and improve close checklists, reconciliations, and documentation Strengthen internal controls over financial reporting Identify and implement accounting process improvements as the business scales Industry-Specific Accounting (HVAC) Apply accounting knowledge specific to the HVAC industry, including: Job costing and project-based accounting Revenue recognition for service, maintenance, and installation contracts Accruals related to labor, materials, and subcontractors Ensure accurate period cutoffs aligned with operational activity Qualifications Required 6–10+ years of progressive experience in US corporate accounting Hands-on ownership of month-end close Strong working experience with NetSuite Solid understanding and application of US GAAP Experience booking and reviewing journal entries Strong balance sheet reconciliation and documentation skills Experience in or exposure to the HVAC or construction services industry Stable work history demonstrating long-term tenure Excellent written and verbal English communication skills Preferred CPA (US or equivalent) or CPA-track Prior Assistant Controller or Controller experience Experience working remotely with US-based teams Experience supporting audits for US entities Ideal Candidate Profile Highly detail-oriented and process-driven Dependable, consistent, and deadline-focused Comfortable owning accounting end-to-end Looking for a long-term role, not frequent job changes Confident working independently in a remote environment Why Join Us Fully remote, work-from-home role New York–aligned schedule Clear accounting ownership with minimal operational distractions Opportunity to grow into or operate at a Controller level Long-term stability and trust-based work environment
