Position Summary: The Controller plans and directs the accounting operations of the company to ensure scalable efficiency and accuracy in the finance function; works closely with the leadership team and CFO to provide continuous improvement in financial reporting and control including cost accounting and profitability measures; provides strong leadership to a team responsible for GL, AR, AP, Audit and Tax; and develops and refines financial reporting to support business decision making in a fast paced, high growth environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:

· 10+ years of accounting/business experience and proven success in a high-growth company
· Experience in a manufacturing and/or eCommerce retail business a plus
· Strong accounting background and knowledge of GAAP, including cost accounting and experience with inventory
· Strong business acumen and decision-making skills
· Proven ability to coach, motivate and develop high-performing teams
· Self-starter seeking continuous improvement of their own job and the team as a whole. Experience with LEAN processes a plus.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite with advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI preferred
· ERP system experience required. Specific experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus
· Experience creating, interpreting and explaining financial reports and other business information to a wide variety of users inside and outside of a business.
· Previous involvement in athletic programs a plus
· BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related field required; MBA or Masters of Accountancy preferred
· CPA highly preferred

Responsibilities

· Oversee and direct all accounting staff and general accounting functions
· Partner with the CFO on reporting the company’s financial condition and key business metrics to internal and external stakeholders
· Oversee establishment and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure proper accounting of transactions, mitigate risk, and optimize operational efficiency
· Lead the team responsible for developing standard processes, procedures, accuracy and consistency in accounting functions and records
· Plan, hire, coach and provide career growth and development opportunities for the accounting team; facilitate efficient onboarding and training of new staff members
· Plan and coordinate work with the operational management team and third-party consultants to enhance the Company’s ERP system to increase functionality and efficiency of operations and business reporting while ensuring consistency, accuracy and integrity of data
· Review monthly financial statements and build improved reporting on profitability, cost accounting, and gross margin
· Conduct profitability analysis by product line, location, customer, and vendor to support growth strategy and margin optimization
· Oversee treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting, covenant compliance, periodic audits, and liquidity management
· Manage communications with vendors and creditors
· Partner with CPA firm and oversee internal team responsible for ensuring timely and accurate completion of the company’s audited financial statements and tax filings
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and business registration requirements
