Description We are looking for an experienced and strategic Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations for a growing multi-unit restaurant organization. Reporting to the CFO, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making while driving continuous improvements in systems and processes. Requirements · Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, cash management, and financial reporting · Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness · Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and restaurant-level reporting · Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and procedures · Review and analyze general ledger activity and account reconciliations · Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting systems · Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting processes · Oversee cash management, including accounts payable, daily cash activity, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring and reporting · Manage and coordinate the annual audit with external auditors and facilitate the preparation of tax returns with tax advisors · Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding tax filing, finances, and reporting requirements · Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, establishing clear performance goals and fostering professional growth · Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives · Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field · Experience in restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit retail environments strongly preferred · Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred · 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience in a multi-unit or high-volume environment · Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls · Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Restaurant365 preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills · Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines · Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills · Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments · Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy · Demonstrated ability to build relationships across functions and communicate effectively with senior leadership Physical Demands: · Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. · Must be able to work in a climate controlled, office environment. · Ability to read and write in English in order to process paperwork and follow up on any actions necessary. · Must be able to frequently stand, walk, give & receive oral communication, bend, squat and reach above shoulder level. · Must be able to sit for long periods of time, type and organize. · Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks. · Must be able to lift/carry up to 20 lbs
