We've tested gaming systems, simulated atmospheric effects of satellite communications, designed unique parts of our nation's radar systems, and designed test systems for the most exciting electronic vehicles on the road. From our headquarters in the Hill Country southwest of Austin, Texas, we operate on a lean and flexible basis allowing us to adapt to our client's design needs, budget, and schedule. Position Summary The Controller is responsible for company-wide financial reporting and reconciliation, as well as maintaining professional relationships with banks, insurance providers, CPA firms, and other key financial partners. This role requires strong project accounting experience, the ability to work directly with project managers, and a solid understanding of manufacturing environments, including job costing and inventory flow. The Controller will also assist the Staff Accountant with accounts payable, and ensure compliance with tax, sales tax, and treasury functions. A successful candidate must possess deep accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, and comfort working both independently and cross-functionally. You will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for the integrity of all financial records, month-end and year-end closes, and the development and oversight of internal controls. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Oversee accounting functions, including accounts payable, invoicing, accounts receivable, and payroll. · Provide direct project accounting support to project managers, ensuring accuracy in cost tracking, budget adherence, and milestone billing. · Collaborate with the Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day transactional accounting activities and resolve discrepancies. · Prepare and record journal entries for assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses by compiling and analyzing financial data. · Maintain and reconcile balance sheet, general ledger, and fixed asset schedules. · Ensure the integrity of all accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions accurately and in a timely manner. · Manage monthly financial statements, budget reports, and variance analysis. · Handle banking relationships and oversee treasury management, including cash flow forecasting and fund allocation. · Ensure accurate and timely filing of sales tax and other tax-related compliance items at the local, state, and federal levels. · Direct and support external audits, including DCAA cost audits. · Evaluate and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets. · Support implementation and compliance with lease accounting rules and cost accounting standards (CAS/FAR). · Lead preparation of quarterly and annual financial filings (e.g., with the SEC, if applicable). · Perform other financial and administrative duties as needed. Requirements Required Skills and Abilities · Strong financial analysis and project accounting skills. · Experience supporting project managers with job cost tracking and reporting. · Detailed knowledge of government CAS accounting standards. · Experience with the Epicor ERP (preferred) or other similar accounting system. · Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including modeling and pivot tables. · Experience supporting banking, treasury, and cash management activities. · Familiarity with sales tax compliance and multi-jurisdiction reporting. · Experience working in a manufacturing environment, with understanding of inventory flow and cost structure. · Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. · High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion with sensitive information. Education, Experience, and Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. · 10+ years’ experience in accounting/finance, ideally in the aerospace & defense or electronics manufacturing sector. · Prior experience in a manufacturing company supporting production teams and cost accounting efforts. · Demonstrate experience in project accounting and revenue recognition using percentage-of-completion. · Experience with Epicor or similar enterprise system. · Experience with most lease accounting standards and FAR/CAS requirements. · Have experience supporting DCAA audits. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills. · Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident due to ITAR compliance.
