About the Role: The Controller is responsible for client service and leading a team of accounting professionals to provide accounting, cash management, financial reporting, and financial management consultation services for a large portfolio of community association clients. This role will interface with property managers, general managers, property developers, community association Boards of Directors, and third-party service providers on financial matters. This is a "hands-on" position from an accounting perspective. Responsibilities: Ensuring client contractual service deliverables, including the review and approval of monthly financial reports and annual budgets Managing the monthly pre-close and close processes, including the management company close Overseeing the preparation process for annual budgets Managing the daily flow of financial service inquiries and requests Client billing for services performed outside the service level agreement Driving client satisfaction and retention Recruiting, hiring, training, and mentoring staff Troubleshooting and resolving escalated issues Overseeing and providing direction on delinquent account collections, communicating with association board members, and coordinating with third-party collection attorneys Managing the investment of association reserve funds and ensuring cash flow for project needs Coordinating audit and tax services with external CPA firms Overseeing all association banking services Managing the successful onboarding of new accounts Acting as the primary financial consultant for community managers and Boards of Directors Recommending and implementing process improvements Becoming a subject matter expert in the CINC platform for the delivery of accounting and financial management services Ensuring financial controls are in place and functioning as designed Overseeing payroll and coordinating with a third-party payroll provider Managing HR functions, including hiring, and coordinating with an external service provider Performing additional work-related tasks as needed Qualifications: Accounting degree from a 4-year accredited college or university Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller Experience supervising an accounting department with at least 5 employees Strong preference for experience in real estate, property management, and outsourced accounting/bookkeeping industries Hands-on experience with mid to upper-tier accounting software packages Demonstrated experience with systems conversion and balance transfer Exceptional computer skills (power user) Excellent grasp of accounting theory and methods (accrual, cash, and modified cash) Strong organizational and prioritization skills Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, high-growth environment Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Life Insurance Vacation and Holiday Pay 401(k) Retirement Plan
