Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our accounting team. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, this role oversees the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance processes. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep accounting expertise, and the ability to foster collaboration and efficiency within the accounting team. This is an in-office position based in our Champaign, IL office. What you’ll do Oversee all company accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and balance sheet management. Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with US GAAP. Lead the preparation, analysis, and management of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial planning for the organization and individual departments. Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial reports, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to leadership. Coordinate federal, state, and local tax filings; manage relationships with external tax advisors; and prepare income tax forecasts as needed. Partner with external auditors to coordinate annual financial audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Monitor, assess, and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain data integrity. Drive process improvements and system enhancements to streamline accounting workflows and support company growth. Provide financial insight and recommendations to leadership to support strategic and operational decision-making. Lead, coach, and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional development, accountability, and collaboration. What we’re looking for Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software Valid driver's license Compensation & Benefits Starting salary - $75,000-$90,000 annually** Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance Paid time off and holidays Paid day off for your birthday 401(k) with company match Paid weekly **The salary range listed for this position represents the range of compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
