OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting and finance, particularly within engineering and/or governmental sectors.
The Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the accounting operations and financial reporting of the organization. This position ensures the integrity of financial data, enforces strong internal controls, and supports strategic decision-making through accurate and timely reporting. The Controller collaborates closely with the executive leadership team to guide financial planning, monitor performance, and maintain compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will bring a high level of technical accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to lead and mentor accounting staff. They will play a critical role in process improvement, budget management, and financial system optimization.

SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) preferred
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is a plus 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or Controller role
  • Experience in government contracting and knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) compliance
  • Demonstrated experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, audits, and budgeting processes
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll tax compliance and business registrations
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred
  • Experience with Rho preferred
  • Experience with Navan preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial modeling and reporting tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion

    Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all general ledger activity, ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year- end close processes.
  • Prepare internal financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of cash flow forecasting models to ensure adequate liquidity, identify potential cash shortfalls, and support strategic financial planning across departments.
  • Manage and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, fixed assets, accruals, and subledgers.
  • Develop and monitor cash flow forecasts and liquidity management strategies.
  • Lead the budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, providing financial analysis and variance reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax laws and filing requirements.
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
  • Supervise and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and expense reimbursements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external financial audits and banking relationships.
  • Coordinate and support compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements.
  • Manage business registrations and licensing across multiple states.
  • Provide financial insights to leadership and collaborate cross-functionally to support business initiatives.
