Open Pine Capital (“OPC”) is the private investment vehicle for a large family office investment company based in Kansas City, MO. OPC makes direct investments in operating businesses across industries, focusing on intentional investments with great companies and people to drive growth and create enduring value. We are expanding and are seeking a highly motivated Controller to lead accounting and finance initiatives across our platform. A role at OPC offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to an entrepreneurial investment platform and see your impact every day.   We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting, reporting, and financial operations and set best-practices for our portfolio companies. This individual will build and oversee all platform level accounting processes, support M&A diligence efforts, and serve as a key partner to OPC leadership.   Key Responsibilities * Financial reporting and management: oversee the month-end close process, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and manage all accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations for OPC and its portfolio companies as needed. * Implement best-in-class practices: act as key OPC touchpoint for portfolio company accounting teams, setting optimal standards and expectations as it relates to accounting and finance. * Process improvement: evaluate and streamline accounting workflows for efficiency and accuracy, automate processes where possible, and partner with other departments (like operations) to improve financial performance across OPC and its various portfolio companies. * Audit and compliance: act as the primary contact for external auditors, coordinate annual audits, and ensure adherence to GAAP and other regulatory requirements, as needed. * Team leadership: mentor, train, and develop accounting team members at portfolio companies, fostering a high-performing and motivated culture. * Support M&A: assist with due diligence and integration efforts during mergers and acquisitions to ensure a smooth transition   Qualifications * 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a leadership position, plus if experience with PE-backed platforms * Excellent verbal and written communication, leadership skills, and organizational skills * Strong analytical, supervisory, and problem-solving skills * High sense of urgency and ownership gets things done without excuses * Comfortable working under deadlines in a fast-paced, detail-intensive environment   Qualities * Self-starter, proactive, problem-solver and critical thinker who is detail-oriented and results-driven * Cultural and purpose-driven alignment with the OPC mission of positively impacting the lives of many and the OPC goal to build and grow great companies, driving enduring results with integrity and excellence * Thrive on a small, agile, and entrepreneurial team working across a wide range of responsibilities and multiple assignments simultaneously * Servant leader mindset of rolling up sleeves to help wherever needed with a hunger for broad learning and continuous improvement   We welcome your interest in being a part of the OPC team.
