CONTROLLER POSITION AT PRINS GREENHOUSES

Prins Greenhouses is a leading supplier and installer of commercial greenhouses across Canada, since 1981, and employs approximately 80 employees.
This position requires an experienced management accountant, having oversight of the accounting functions of the business and its related companies.
This position may be part-time/freelance and requires 10-20 hours per week.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS:

1) Uncompromising Integrity and Ethical Standards – must be honest, ethical, and able to develop and maintain the trust and confidence of all constituents: co-workers, suppliers, and customers alike.
2) Financial Accounting, Cash Management, and Corporate Finance experience – the ideal candidate has a CPA designation.
3) Business Knowledge and a Strong Understanding of the Business Operations – ideally the candidate has a background in the construction industry with experience in job costing. Experience in the agricultural industry is also an asset. Experience with Jonas Enterprise Service and Construction Software is an asset but not necessary.
4) Strategic Vision and Leadership Skills – must be able to think strategically, help create and execute business plans, and demonstrate strong leadership within the accounting department and with the management team, as a whole.
5) Communication Skills – must be able to clearly communicate with all constituents both orally and in writing, and be able to anticipate the information that is sought.
6) Problem Solving Abilities – must possess the ability to analyze problems and suggest solutions with a mindset of accomplishing a ‘win-win’ outcome.
7) Strong Work Ethic – must be a self-starter and willing to commit the time required to accomplish objectives in a timely manner.
8) Results Oriented Mindset – must be committed to achieving results based on or exceeding set budgets and forecasts.
This is a part-time position that will require spending one or two days per week in our head office in Abbotsford, BC. Remuneration will be $600 - $750 per day spent working with our team, in our office. Any extra hours spent working at home could be added, pro-rata.
Fluency in English and the ability to work in Canada (legally) are requirements for this position.

The Controller could grow into a key member of the leadership team of Prins Greenhouses. The role would include:
- Willingness to learn and understand our construction software and work actively with the strength of this system. Review and recommend modifications when needed.
- Produce budget documents, project spreadsheets, and provide cost analysis of the same
- Work closely with our admin staff and inspire with inherent knowledge
- Analyze and monitor project costing spreadsheets
- Overview of the cashflow, which includes foreign currency
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes
- Oversee the financial information of the field crops and give input
- Accept with pleasure the responsibility for the above-mentioned tasks
