For over 30 years the Peak Construction Group of Companies has been specializing in the development and construction of commercial, residential and renovation projects. We currently have an opening for a Controller, based in our Head Office in South Surrey, BC. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing, analyzing, and reporting on all financial, cost, and scheduling aspects of construction projects. This role serves as a key partner to project teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining compliance with company standards and industry best practices.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant experience in project controls, financial analysis, or accounting within the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of project management, cost control, and scheduling methodologies.
  • Proficient with construction accounting software.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of contract administration is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cash flows in collaboration with project managers and the CFO.
  • Track and control costs throughout all project phases, identifying variances and making recommendations to maintain financial targets.
  • Monitor project schedules, milestones, and deliverables for alignment with overall project plans.
  • Prepare and present timely and accurate project financial reports, including cost-to-complete analyses, progress billings, and variance explanations.
  • Coordinate payment schedules and process invoices for vendors and subcontractors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, compliance records, and project audit trails.
  • Participate in contract review, scope definition, and change management to ensure project costs, risks, and performance are properly controlled.
  • Oversee the integration and use of project management and accounting software/tools.
  • Support project closeouts by reconciling budgets and preparing final reports.
  • Contribute to internal process improvements and participate in cross-functional project meetings and reviews.
  • Liaise with auditors to provide documentation and answer queries during periodic audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and industry regulations at all times.
