REQUIREMENTS:

  • Accounting Designation (CPA, CMA, CGA or CA)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior accounting role, including leadership experience
  • A track record of innovation and a strong desire to implement and document processes while implementing new technology to drive efficiencies and accuracy.
  • Understanding of cost centres used for management reporting

Considered an Asset:

  • Experience using ERP systems, with Sage 300 and Sage Intelligence considered an asset
  • Willingness to relocate to Prince Edward Island
Responsibilities

You will be responsible for managing all financial and accounting operations of the company. This includes leading a team of accounting professionals, overseeing both payables and collections, undertaking financial reporting and analysis as required by management, as well as providing strategic financial advice. You will ensure all day-to-day accounting operations are timely and accurate, while at the same time working with our IT professionals to implement the latest in technology and processes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing a team to ensure all day-to-day accounting functions are completed, including processing sales invoices, payables invoices, bank reconciliations, accounting accruals, filing of tax remittances, etc.
  • Leading the monthly book close process and ensuring timely completion of month-ends, with an emphasis on accuracy and monitoring financial trends.
  • Performing variance analysis and cashflow monitoring, as necessary.
  • Overseeing the companies tax compliance, including the preparation and filing of HST remittances, corporate tax installments and year end corporate tax filings.
  • Ensuring treasury compliance by submitting reports to financial institutions for covenant compliance
  • Maintain and improve financial processes and internal controls.
  • Standardization and simplification of accounting processes across the regions
  • Finalizing year end documentation for annual reviews by external accountants.
  • Compile and analyze financial and management quarterly reporting packages.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities and informing the management; and assist in improving operating profit.
  • Mentor financial staff and guide them in improving the financials processes.
  • Collaborate with IT and operations to implement various process improvements and automations.
  • Evaluate accounting processes, across different provinces, including sales and receivable, COGS and Inventory, timely book close, and identifying opportunities for automation, standardization, simplification to make the process efficient.
