We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. This long-term contract position offers an exciting opportunity to oversee key accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger management, and reconciliations. Ideal candidates will bring expertise in financial operations, with the ability to provide mentorship and support to enhance team capabilities.

• Manage and oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Perform detailed reconciliations to maintain integrity across financial records.
• Supervise general ledger activities, including journal entries and account adjustments.
• Lead efforts to optimize document control, scanning, and organization systems.
• Compile and maintain financial documents and reports in a systematic manner.
• Support the team in closing skill gaps through training and mentorship.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards within the higher education industry.
• Utilize Workday and other systems to streamline financial operations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance accounting processes and workflows.
• Proven experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in higher education.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable, general ledger, and reconciliation processes.
• Proficiency in document control, scanning, and organization systems.
• Familiarity with Workday software or similar financial platforms.
• Ability to mentor and train team members to improve skills and performance.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance standards.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work within cross-functional teams.
