Due to a promotion, we are in search of a Controller for our client’s team based in Nepean, Ontario. The Controller is an integral part of our team, overseeing the financial operations of multiple operating companies. This role involves ensuring the financial integrity of the organizations, collaborating with various teams, and handling intercompany transactions. This opportunity offers an exciting role for individuals with a strong background in accounting and financial management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• CPA or CPA finalist required.
• Project accounting experience coupled with WIP (Work In Progress)
• Experience in engineering or professional services.
• Experience managing accounting operations staff.
• Experience with Deltek is highly desirable. Advanced MS Excel is expected.
• Require Financial statement presentation and experience with tight month-end close
• Budgeting and forecasting coupled with variance analysis
• Experience with intercompany accounting.

• Oversee the financial aspects of six operating companies to ensure their financial integrity.
• Collaborate and provide support to finance and administrative teams in their accounting duties.
• Ensure the accuracy of financial statements, identifying and addressing any variances or discrepancies.
• Prepare and revise financial reports to outline the company’s position in terms of income, expenses, and earnings.
• Develop, analyze, and interpret accounting information to assess operational results in terms of profitability and performance against budget.
• Coordinate, establish and maintain planning and control procedures.
• Collaborate with the Director of Operations to optimize the utilization of the accounting/ERP system.
• Manage all insurance (excluding individual-related) and ensure comprehensive and financially sound policies are in place.
• Liaise with other offices to provide reporting, support, and ensure best practices are adhered to.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, Provincial, and local regulatory bodies.
• Assist in managing cash flow, financing, and relationships with financial institutions and external auditors.
• Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with external auditors and accountants.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and their impact on the organization’s books of account.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation for all financial and accounting activities.
• Oversee and assist with month-end processes as required.
• Manage intercompany transactions.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to provide financial support such as generating reports and reviewing WIP.
• Prepare budget and forecasts and review overall performance management.
• Manage procurement accounts in collaboration with relevant department managers/team leads.
• Mentor and initiate continuous quality improvement within the Finance Department.
