Onsite Rate: Up to $89,000 annually SUMMARY: This position is under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Supervises Sr. Staff Accountant; Staff Accountant; Accounts Payable Specialist; and Accounting Clerk. Responsible for payroll, quarterly and annual payroll tax reports, bank reconciliations, fixed asset records, inventory and purchase order systems, and other projects as required. Provides backup to the Sr. Staff Accountant and Staff Accountant as needed. Performs month end and year-end processes, including account analysis, financial statement preparation, and preparation of documentation for annual financial statement review.  Reconciles various balance sheet accounts and ensures the monthly close is processed timely and accurately for CFO review. Processes monthly financial statements, distributions and monthly close for SPRS and QRS.  Processes monthly payroll for QRS and SPRS.  Reviews and ensures timely processing of Quarterly and annual filings of payroll taxes for all entities including SDMI.  Processes monthly and annual US Census and DOL requirements.   Reports and reconciles monthly CAP payments. Prepares required documents and works with audit firm on annual unclaimed property filing. Assists in annual budgeting process and monthly analysis of budget to actual amounts. Assists with administration of employee benefit plans, including 401(k) and cafeteria plans and annual open enrollment. Prepares documentation for annual audit of SDMI 401(k) plan and SDMI financial review and tax return documents for CPA firm.  Ensures the accounting staff is properly trained and provides backup to positions as needed.  Reviews and approves requests for PTO time of staff.  Assists CFO and performs daily critical duties as backup to the CFO as needed. May also perform other job related duties for the efficient operation of SDMI.  MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor’s/ Master degree in Accounting or closely related field. * CPA Certification required (exception may be considered for comparable work experience). * Public Accounting experience required. * 5 to 8 years accounting experience required * Strong analytical, technical and problem solving skills * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Strong PC skills- Microsoft Office and Great Plains Dynamics preferred * Ability to work independently * Attention to detail * Maintain highest level of confidentiality * Flexible and self-motivated with sound judgement * Respond positively to changes in assignments and priorities. * Assume responsibility for updating knowledge of current SDMI department policies and procedures, protocol and practices. * Demonstrate punctuality by reporting to work on time/satisfactory attendance record that complies with SDMI attendance policy. * Take full responsibility for all functions within job description  * Communicate effectively when follow up is needed. * Work as an effective team member with co-workers and other personnel. ·  Any employee who discovers, is directly involved in or is responding to an event/occurrence/risk is required to complete or direct the completion of an occurrence report within 24 hours of event/occurrence/risk.
