QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in a family office, boutique private equity-style environment
  • Certified Public Accountant, with undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or business administration
  • Demonstrated skills in providing quality enterprise financial management, accounting, and tax preparation for individuals, trusts, foundations, corporations and investment entities
  • Expert level knowledge of tax and investment partnership accounting
  • Strong software and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated management and leadership
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Controller will lead the financial planning, accounting, and tax functions of all business entities under Synergy Private, inclusive of the firm’s multiple operating entities and its private clients’ entities. This role will be expected to grow into a leadership position overseeing an internal team of bookkeeping and accounting professionals while owning the review of financial reports and supporting executive leadership with forecasting and FP&A functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership, management, and supervision for two offshore accountants
  • Oversees the daily operations of the financial function for the family office, its related entities, and private clients
  • Creates financial reports for CEO and private clients
  • Provides financial analyses, projections, modeling, and ad hoc reports for project or planning initiatives and financial due diligence
  • Develops and maintains departmental policies, procedures, and operational buildout
  • Coordinates and manages audits and compliance requirements
  • Financial management of real estate assets
  • Manages valuations of private assets
  • Provides accounting/financial reporting assistance to other family members and principals
  • Oversees external tax advisors and files tax returns for a complex collection of multiple entities
  • Coordinates with the internal and external service providers for the family office project facilitation
  • Oversees cash management and investment and other external expert providers such as real estate counsel
  • Other duties as assigned
