Description:
A great UHY client is seeking a Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will have middle market experience, full scope experience, and experience managing a team.
The Controller role is a hybrid position, with 4 days each week being onsite. This is a client direct hire position.
CONTROLLER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management, ideally within the logistics or freight industry.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting principles, and tax laws.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, invoicing, and accounts payable/receivable.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements (balance sheets, profit & loss, cash flow).
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial planning processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting.
- Monitor cash flow, manage financial risks, and optimize company profitability.
- Assist in the preparation of annual audits and tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and tax laws specific to the freight and logistics industry.
- Analyze financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as needed.
- Support management in strategic financial decisions and performance metrics.
