CONTROLLER

Position Type: Full-time/Permanent
Location: Halifax, NS (5 days a week on-site)
Compensation: $80,000 to $90,000/Annually + Bonus + Benefits + Vacation
We are supporting our client in the Real Estate industry in their search for a Controller. Reporting to the CEO, this individual will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and finance operations of the organization

REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPA designation is strongly preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a senior accounting role (e.g., Controller or Assistant Controller)
  • Direct experience in property management accounting is required
  • Strong knowledge of rent rolls, lease administration, and tenant billing
  • Proven leadership ability to manage and develop a team
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and fixed asset management
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. Provide management with regular financial reports and performance metrics
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Manage daily cash flow, monitor banking activities, and prepare cash flow projections to support business needs
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Assist the leadership team with financial analysis to support key business decisions, including pricing, new investments, and operational changes
  • Manage and mentor a small finance team, ensuring high-quality work and professional development
