We are seeking a highly skilled financial professional to join our team and oversee key accounting operations. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional with expertise in accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. The Controller will drive the accounting processes of the company and is responsible for full cycle accounting, preparation and distribution of monthly reporting, preparation of financial statements, and supporting the accounts payable/receivable and payroll teams as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes, including accurate preparation of journal entries;
  • Prepare cashflow forecasting (weekly, monthly, quarterly) – analyzing variances between actual results and forecasts, providing recommendations for improvement;
  • Reconcile ledgers - monthly and quarterly;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual Financial Statements;
  • Responding to information requests and assisting with audits;
  • Analysis, identification and posting of month end costs accruals;
  • Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures, complying with federal and provincial legal requirements;
  • Ensure compliance and reporting for all covenants and government programs including GST, WCB, EHT, Payroll Remittances, Corporate Tax;
  • Prepare journal entries, bank reconciliations and monthly accruals accurately into accounting software;
  • Assist with payroll and accounts payable runs and data entry as required;
  • Assist Operations and General Managers with monthly reporting requirements;
  • Promoting continuous process improvement in all areas of responsibility;
  • Other finance and administrative duties as required.

Experience and Skill Set:

  • CPA designation (or equivalent) preferred;
  • 5 years of related experience;
  • Experience with forecasting and budgeting;
  • Ability to identify root causes and process roadblocks;
  • Highly detail oriented and organized, able to multi-task, and work under pressure;
  • Experience with Sage 100 Contractor, QuickBooks Desktop, and/or Acumatica considered an asset;
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
