(d/b/a Slate) Position: Controls & Automation Engineer (Job Code: 1013) Duties: Responsible for playing a vital role in developing and implementing control systems and automation solutions for the manufacturing processes across General Assembly and Body in White (BIW), contributing to the efficiency, precision, and overall excellence of our production operations; design, develop, and implement control systems for manufacturing processes in General Assembly and BIW ensuring seamless integration with automation solutions; collaborate with cross-functional teams in each department to understand design requirements and provide expertise on controls and automation feasibility; program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and other control system components across all manufacturing lines; utilize production support, troubleshooting, PLC programming, HMI programming, Allen Bradley, Siemens, electric & pneumatic diagram reading & upgrading, Sick & Keyence safety scanners, and light curtains configuration to perform duties; work closely with product engineering and production teams in General Assembly and BIW to optimize automation solutions and troubleshoot issues for continuous improvement; ensure all automation interfaces are compatible with the MES system and collect the required data and interface with associated systems; stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in controls and automation, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance production efficiency across all departments; collaborate with external suppliers to source, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge control and automation technologies applicable to General Assembly and BIW; review production lines design with suppliers; use Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Siemens Step 7/TIA Portal PLC and HMI FactoryTalk View Studio programming from scratch; responsible for E-Plan and AutoCAD hardware design, PLC Ethernet/IP network troubleshooting, and production support for assembly lines with conveyance system; use Vertical Adjustable Carrier (VAC), material handling robot system and sealing application robot system; and perform standard and safety logic troubleshooting, Fanuc robot programming, and PLC to MES configuration and support. Location: 2801 W Old Rd 30, Warsaw, IN 46580; Salary: $120,000 per year; Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree); Experience: Two (2) years in the position above, as an Automation Controls Engineer, as a Controls Engineer, or in a related occupation; Other Requirements: Experience must include two (2) years’ use of all the following: production support, troubleshooting, PLC programming, HMI programming, Allen Bradley, Siemens, electric & pneumatic diagram reading & upgrading, Sick & Keyence safety scanners, and light curtains configuration.
