Boeing Technology Innovation (BTI) is seeking an Associate or Mid-Level Controls and Robotics Engineer for the Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) Automation, Composites and Tooling (ACT) team in Tukwila, Washington.

BASICS QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • Experience with industrial controls, robotics, and process automation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited university in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Controls, Computer Science, or related field. (Master’s preferred.)
  • Experience with Power Distribution
  • Experience with Industrial Sensors
  • Experience with Industrial Motors
  • Experience with Industrial Drive Trains
  • Experience with PLC programming
  • Experience with NC programming
  • Experience in Electrical Cabinet Design
  • 2+ years of experience in controls, robotics, or automation engineering
  • Strong knowledge of control theory (PID, state-space, observers, Kalman filters, LQR/LQG, robust/adaptive control)
  • Hands-on experience with robotic frameworks and middleware (e.g., ROS/ROS2)
  • Experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, G&M and MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience with real-time systems and embedded control platforms
  • Experience with sensor integration (vision, IMU, encoders), motor control, and drives
  • Proven ability to debug, test, and validate hardware-software integrated systems
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Required

Responsibilities
  • Develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, interfaces and designs for robotic cells, controls systems, electrical cabinets and automated hardware systems
  • Support the design, build and commissioning of unique end effectors for automated manufacturing processes
  • Perform engineering activities including development, integration and testing of automated hardware systems and/or software
  • Influence, innovate and continuously improve automated engineering processes as well as the quality, safety and reliability of our products and services
  • Collaborate proactively with customers, stakeholders, and peers to understand operational and performance requirements
  • Support agile project management, project estimation and planning
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn and work with new technologies
