As a Control Systems Engineer within our automation team you will be involved in the ongoing delivery of Automation and Control Systems to those companies.

Reporting to the Senior Automation Engineer, the Controls Engineer requires a strong technical background and aptitude, and ability to produce high-quality reliable code and documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant third level qualification(s) such as Bsc in Computer Science, BEng in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or BEng in Automation
  • Minimum 2 – 3 years relevant experience
  • Experience in implementing automation projects in Siemens Step7 or TIA Portal Step7 PLC Programming languages (LAD/SCL)
  • Experience in implementing SCADA or HMI projects in any of the market leading software packages (SIMATIC WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware or iFix)
  • Database experience, such as MS SQL Server.
  • A working knowledge of a CAD design package is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines including in-house Engineering, Operations, Quality and Product Development, partners and contractors, as well as customer IT and Operations groups.
  • Self motivated with an ability to organise your own time to efficiently and effectively deliver your assigned work.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills in order to resolve or overcome challenges with new or existing systems.
  • Positions are based in South Dublin, Ireland
  • You will hold a full, clean drivers license
  • You must be eligible to work in the EU (EU Citizen or existing work Visa)

Responsibilities:

  • Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Be responsible for the design, development, installation, commissioning, documentation, testing & validation of the automated control system and peripheral devices.
  • Work as part of a team, liaise with internal and external (Client) personnel.
  • Work within our own and our clients standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to all company and regulatory work practices
  • Maintain and improve existing codebases and peer review code changes.
  • Document solutions by developing functional and software design specifications, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams
  • Investigate and use new technologies where relevant by continually updating technical knowledge and skills
  • The successful candidate will be involved in the design and delivery of a wide variety of automation control projects across multiple sectors and disciplines
