CONTROLS ENGINEER - DELTAV / HONEYWELL

Sugar Land, TX | Full-Time | 25% Travel
Are you an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong background in DeltaV and Honeywell DCS systems? We’re seeking a skilled professional to join our engineering team in Sugar Land, TX. In this role, you’ll be responsible for programming, system configuration, documentation, factory acceptance testing, and on-site commissioning for control systems across a variety of platforms.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a combination of education and 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in programming Honeywell and DeltaV Distributed Control Systems
  • Strong understanding of Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and OPC protocols
  • Ability to read and develop control panel, wiring, and field diagrams
  • Familiarity with P&IDs and ISA tagging standards
  • Ability to develop Instrument & I/O Lists from P&IDs
  • Assess and support development of P&IDs

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and major HMI platforms (Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, FactoryTalk View, GE iFIX)
  • Familiarity with Omni Flow Computers, ROC, and Load Metering Devices
  • Understanding of protection relays, historian systems, and external alerting systems (text, email, apps)
  • Knowledge of DeviceNet and/or Profibus communication protocols
Responsibilities
  • Develop logic diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and functional narratives
  • Program DCS/PLC/HMI systems (Honeywell, DeltaV, and others)
  • Conduct factory acceptance testing and field commissioning
  • Support troubleshooting and provide technical support during startup
  • Participate in control panel design and review E&I packages
  • Develop operational and technical manuals, including training materials
  • Collaborate with engineering leads and project managers to ensure quality deliverables and budget adherence
  • Attend site walkdowns for field verification and user requirement gathering
  • Provide responsive after-hours support as needed
  • Travel up to 25%, including air travel
