Description

About the Role
We’re looking for a Software Controls Engineer to join a growing automation engineering team working on complex, high-speed automation systems. This role goes beyond programming — you’ll be involved in the full lifecycle of projects, from conceptual design through commissioning, while also providing technical oversight, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration.
If you enjoy tackling tough automation challenges, integrating cutting-edge control systems, and seeing projects through to successful delivery, this could be a strong next step.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and integrate PLC/HMI software (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000).
  • Architect advanced control algorithms, motion profiles, and safety functions for robotics, conveyors, and material handling systems.
  • Lead FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting on-site and remotely.
  • Review and validate control system code, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge on programming, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and project engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Act as a technical contact for clients during reviews, training, and support.
  • Document designs, write functional specs, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in electrical, electro-mechanical, or computer engineering (degree or equivalent experience).
  • Strong skills in PLC/HMI programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000).
  • Solid understanding of motion control, robotics, safety systems, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
  • Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
  • Strong communicator who can work closely with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable with 20–30% travel to customer sites across the U.S. and Canada.

Why This Role

  • Work on cutting-edge automation projects across robotics, material handling, and advanced manufacturing.
  • A role that blends hands-on technical design with leadership and mentorship opportunities.
  • Variety in work — from design and testing to commissioning and customer engagement.
  • Join a team that values innovation, collaboration, and delivering high-quality results.
