SUMMARY

Being responsible for all controls hardware design and programming PLC’s, HMI’s and other types of manufacturing equipment for US Engineering

QUALIFICATIONS

· In depth experience and understanding of the automation industry
· Experience leading a team of controls engineers
· Excellent problem solving and communication skills
· Ability to effectively guide and direct other employees
· Experience in controls designing of all aspects for automation systems
· Proven experience in troubleshooting controls including robots
· Experience in welding systems
· Efficient in programming and debugging of automated systems including robotic welding, fastening and assembly systems – PLC, Robots, servos, etc.
· Able to program Allen Bradley Panel View (HMI) and PLC, Fanuc and ABB (minimum)
· Ability to manage onsite installation of equipment at the customer’s facility
· Understanding of Mechanical Design, components, and interface with Controls
· Ability to understand and contribute to early Design Analysis of Systems as they relate to controls and required Mechanical Componentry
· Ability to maintain a good relationship between fellow employees and customers
· Ability to facilitate positive Team Building
· Ability to apply common sense understanding
· Use an objective approach toward decision making

EDUCATION REQUIRED/ PREFERRED

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with 5 – 8 years’ experience preferred, but other engineering degrees will be considered with applicable experience
· Experience in AutoCAD or EPLAN
· Experience with AB Controls Logix or Siemens STEP 7
· 5 Plus years of integration experience
· 3 Plus years of technical management experience

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Direct, guide and assist other Controls Engineers and fellow employees
· Managing workload for controls team and assigned projects
· Evaluate company workload for possible outsourcing when needed
· Manage contract controls engineer’s direction and workload on assigned projects
· Review customers controls and safety specifications, and ensure controls hardware and software designs comply with those specifications
· Participate in automation design reviews and provide technical direction as needed
· Design and program PLC, HMI, robots and other types of automated manufacturing equipment
· Communicate with suppliers on products and process concerns
· Work with other employees to solve problems and continuously improve processes and quality
· Provide support for onsite installation of equipment at customer’s facility
· Direct and assist in maintaining comprehensive project documentation
· Follow all company safety protocol
