Overview:
An S&H Systems controls installation technician is primarily responsible for the on-site controls installation and commissioning of the controls portion of MHE systems. Off-site, the technician independently reviews electrical drawings for upcoming projects and cross-references them with product manuals to understand proper installation and commissioning for each controls device. On-site, the technician interacts with the mechanical and electrical installers to assist installation, review installation quality, and correct installation errors for controls devices. The technician interacts with the Project Controls Engineer to ensure the controls devices are being installed and commissioned according to the project drawings and that any changes are being recorded. The technician interacts with the Site Manager to track the progress of installation and commissioning, report necessary materials not present on site, and identify manpower needs. To accomplish these responsibilities, the technician may be required to travel independently to site, use lift or ladder equipment to access devices, use hand and power tools on device brackets, wire or rewire device connections, use laptop-based software programs to configure device parameters (including setting IP addresses), troubleshoot electrical problems, debug PLC code (primarily ladder logic), and/or give daily/weekly progress reports to management. These tasks will mostly be done independently with support and direction from other team members on-site and off-site.
