Education/Knowledge
· Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or two-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Advanced technical training in PLC (Allen Bradley RS Logix 500 and 5000), Robotics, electrical, mechanical, pneumatics and hydraulics
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, assembly drawings, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

  • Controls Technician for 2nd shift operation
  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems, hydraulic systems, apparatus, electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and production equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical/hydraulic equipment such as assembly cells, conveyor systems, robots, test stands and various other production machines and equipment
  • PLC and robot programming/troubleshooting
  • Diagnose issues via HMI or PLC (Allen Bradley RS Logix 500 and 5000) or robot controller
  • Works with engineering team and other maintenance team members, such as Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician and Maintenance Tool Maker, to diagnose malfunctioning machinery and discusses possible solutions to resolve problems.
  • Works with other maintenance team members including Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians to make repairs to malfunctioning machinery.
  • Reports to Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares facility, installs new equipment and removes obsolete equipment.
  • Plans and installs control panel wiring for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, vision systems, pneumatic/hydraulic controls, VFD and programmable controllers.
  • Utilizes PLC program (Allen Bradley RS Logix 500 and 5000) and HMI to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with production equipment, assembly lines and other equipment.
  • Makes backups of programs, parameters and machine data as needed.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, proximity sensors, and other similar devices.
  • Locates replacement parts necessary to repair equipment including MRO crib, or maintenance warehouse.
  • Adjusts functional parts of production equipment to achieve functionality and peak performance.
  • Starts production equipment to test performance.
  • Utilizes a variety of common hand tools and power tools such as drill, saw, grinder, pipe bender, threader and other applicable tools.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Initiates purchase requisition for parts and machines.
  • Duties include assisting mechanics when needed and performing mechanical duties within the individual’s ability, not limited to electrical duties and PLC diagnosis.
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance on time to provided schedule
  • Other facility maintenance duties as needed.
