POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client, a leading organization in plant floor control systems, is seeking an experienced and skilled Controls Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of plant control systems. This role involves close collaboration with outside contractors, training maintenance teams, and ensuring optimal plant operations through effective control system management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-year Industrial Technology Certificate or degree in Automation, Electrical, or Electronic Technology (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in developing and modifying electrical schematics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering, Electrical, or Controls Technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in PLC programming and SCADA programming.

Experience with the following systems:

  • WonderWare Intouch & Archestra
  • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, PLC 5, SLC 5/05
  • MS SQL, Industrial SQL, Wonderware Historian
  • AB PanelView
  • Sigmatek PLC & Operator Interfaces
  • Robotic automation (Fanuc, UR, Okura, etc.)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional travel (up to 5%) is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to bend, climb, crawl, and work in confined or hazardous spaces.
  • Capable of working in extreme weather conditions and handling hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a continual basis.
  • Work will be performed in both industrial and office environments.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee input/output (I/O) checkouts for new projects and process improvements.
  • Maintain and modify PLC programs to support daily plant operations.
  • Lead and manage continuous improvement projects across the facility.
  • Implement, support, and troubleshoot PLC programs for plant operations.
  • Install and configure WonderWare SCADA software to optimize plant functions.
  • Maintain and upgrade the SCADA system to ensure peak performance.
  • Ensure change control processes are followed and validate PLCs and SCADA systems.
  • Train and mentor maintenance and operational teams on control systems.
  • Work with OEMs and consultants to address and resolve system-related issues.
  • Provide on-call technical support for shift operations and resources.
  • Collaborate with the Network Administrator to maintain the Facility Controls Network (hardware/software).
  • Adhere to safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and food safety protocols.
