Summary Description As a Controls Technician at ENTEK, you will play a hands-on role in bringing advanced industrial equipment to life in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will apply your knowledge of electronic theory, instrumentation, and test equipment to start up, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize the control systems that support production operations. This position works closely with Controls Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and other technical teams to install, test, and maintain control systems for complex manufacturing equipment. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with innovative automation technologies while contributing directly to the success of our Terre Haute facility. This job's duties involves the following: Collaborate with Controls Engineers to review machine and equipment functions for new projects and installations Review electrical schematics and assist with installation and startup of control systems Install, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot electrical instrumentation, electronic controls, and related equipment Diagnose wiring and electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as multimeters Perform I/O checkouts and testing on newly installed equipment Troubleshoot software, hardware, and network-related control system issues Install and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and associated communication software Maintain and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs, I/O hardware, and drive systems including Siemens S120 and G120C drives Develop or modify documentation related to testing, startup, and commissioning processes Work with engineering and assembly teams to improve system performance and operational efficiency Direct activities of outside contractors working on assigned equipment Document project hours and technical work accurately Provide occasional after-hours technical support as needed Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, and 5S practices Maintain safe operations by following all company safety procedures and regulations Requirements Minimum Qualifications & Experience: Associate’s degree (AA/AS) in Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field OR Minimum of two years of related experience and/or technical training OR Equivalent combination of education and experience Demonstrated or proven: Basic computer knowledge and technical troubleshooting skills Strong attention to detail Written and verbal communication skills Problem-solving and analytical abilities Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and control systems Ability to design and perform testing procedures for complex equipment Working Environment The hours for this role are Monday–Friday, day shift, with occasional after-hours support as needed according to business requirements. The employee will regularly work in a manufacturing plant environment. The job may require working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or industrial chemicals. The noise level in the production facility is typically moderate. Employees may be required to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform physical activities such as standing, walking, reaching, bending, and working with tools and equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be used when required.
