Description

RIGHT PEOPLE. RIGHT JOBS

We are a dynamic and forward-thinking company leading the charge in the next generation of automotive technology and we’re looking for an Automation & Controls Specialist to join our fast-paced production environment. In this role, you’ll take ownership of programming and maintaining our automation systems — including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and vision systems. Your expertise will directly impact system efficiency, equipment reliability, and operational excellence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience working with Rockwell Automation PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, SLC 500).
  • Familiarity with AGV/AMR platforms (e.g., MiR, OTTO Motors, Geek+, Locus) is a plus.
  • Red Seal 309A/442A electrical license is an asset.
  • Skilled in reading technical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience working on-site with machinery and support during field deployments.
Responsibilities
  • Design, update, and optimize PLC programs using Studio 5000 / RSLogix 500, incorporating ladder logic, structured text, and function block diagrams.
  • Modify and enhance HMI interfaces with FactoryTalk View Studio and other platforms such as PanelBuilder32 to ensure intuitive user experiences.
  • Program and maintain safety PLCs (e.g., GuardLogix, PILZ) and associated safety relay systems like Allen-Bradley Guardmaster and ABB Vital.
  • Integrate and configure industrial robots (Fanuc, MOTOMAN) for automated tasks including assembly, welding, and material handling.
  • Set up and maintain vision systems to enable accurate image recognition, data collection, and communication with PLCs and HMIs.
  • Analyze and resolve communication issues across industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, DF1).
  • Utilize diagnostic tools such as RSNetWorx, Logix Designer, and RSLinx to troubleshoot faults and ensure efficient system performance.
  • Conduct regular backups of automation systems to ensure data integrity and facilitate rapid recovery after hardware/software failures.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements in control systems and automation strategies.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to support seamless deployment and operations of automated systems.
