SPECIAL SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should have demonstrated experience with the following skills:

  • PLC: Extensive experience with PLC programming, particularly Allen-Bradley Logix 500 and Logix 5000. Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software-related issues.
  • HMI: Understanding of Allen-Bradley software for HMI programming; experience with Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA system is a plus.
  • Motion Control: Detailed understanding of servo motor-based motion control systems, including troubleshooting applications for Emerson and Allen-Bradley platforms.
  • Device Networks: Proficient in troubleshooting device networks, including Ethernet technologies.
  • Instrumentation: Skills to configure, calibrate, and troubleshoot devices like flow transmitters and pressure transducers.
  • Electrical: Strong electrical skills, capable of troubleshooting controls and relay logic; understanding of electrical theory and calculations.
  • Documentation: Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and codes; proficient in searching manufacturer websites for technical datasheets.
  • PC Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CMMS programs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent technical training and work experience.
  • 1+ years of related experience.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of processing, packaging, and associated equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electronic circuitry, electrical and pneumatic schemes, and facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing plant equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and addressing issues related to electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, motion control instrumentation, and system networks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work safely at all times, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs for processing and packaging equipment.
  • Administer and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the maintenance department to troubleshoot issues and perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in scheduling machines for repair or rebuild.
  • Work on projects to improve production throughput and system component visibility.
  • Operate equipment safely while following GMP guidelines and maintain a clean work area.
  • Participate in meetings and fill in for other positions as necessary.
  • Participate in audits as assigned (Safety, GMP, 5S, etc.).
