JOB SUMMARY:

The Controls Technologist is responsible for design, installation, and technical support for industrial controls utilized in the manufacturing process.
This role will support the 1st shift assembly operations.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • BA/BS in Math, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field or Strong Electrical and Controls background.
  • 2+ years of experience in completing software or data analysis and visualization projects.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good working knowledge of various power distribution systems including single phase systems of 120/240V, and three phase systems up to 480V.
  • Strong background in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong background in HMI programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong background in Variable Frequency Drive programming and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work with various systems including cameras, badge scanners, barcode scanners, and RFID scanners.
  • Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot and solve problems.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Adherence to and understanding of data science ethics.
  • Ability to work alone or with a team.
  • Ability to multitask jobs.
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge is desirable and strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Develop standards for specific configuration and controls for new equipment.
  • Develop and maintain required documentation to support controls applications including manuals, drawings, and program backups.
  • Oversee installation of control systems on new equipment installations.
  • Oversee installation of current control systems during modification due to machine upgrades, and FY model changes.
  • Ability to analyze and recommend process changes to improve operation of equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with company polices, quality standards, safety standards, and be OSHA compliant.
  • Maintain Variable Frequency Drives including setup, programming, and troubleshooting. Allen Bradley PowerFlex 525 and 753 preferred.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting. Rockwell Automation ControlLogix and CompactLogix preferred.
  • HMI programming and troubleshooting. FactoryTalk View Studio ME and PanelView Plus preferred.
  • Add/remove tags from OPC servers such as Kepware.
  • Troubleshoot motion-controlled applications including servo motors and linear actuators. Ability to program motion a plus.
  • Troubleshoot and commission Ethernet/IP Fieldbus connections.
  • Create and modify schematics with AutoCAD or equivalent software package.
  • Integrate with other systems such as Pinpoint, SQL, AS400, FactoryTalk Transaction Manager, and Ignition.
