POSITION SUMMARY:

The Conversion Operator is responsible for operating a machine in the conversion department (Laminator, Die Cut, Screen Print, Slitter, etc.) to convert corrugated plastic sheets into other products according to specified work orders.

EDUCATION:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

· 2 -3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Previous extrusion or machine operator experience.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· acute vision and color identification
· Strong attention to detail.
· Ability to maintain records regarding material, equipment, and repairs.
· Excellent analytical and problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
· Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

POSITION DUTIES:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Complete the daily operational level of the machine being worked on.
· Accurately complete daily production reports to avoid production and inventory errors.
· Inform Conversion Supervisor of any defects, breakage and/or down time on the shift.
· Ensure Conversion Assistants are completing their duties for the machine being run by that particular operator.
· Set up Machine following work instructions outlined in the appropriate Quality Plan.
· Perform in-process quality control checks by frequent inspection; and adjust machine controls.
· Make sure dies (if required) are put away at the end of each order in the proper location.
· Complete conversion die/ screen inspections (if required)
· Perform inventory count and raw material inspections (Ink, material rolls, etc…)
· Return at the end of the day: frequent size skids used and aspenite sheets in designated locations after use.
· Operate Grinder (when required) to ensure a continuous inventory of available regrind material
· Operate production equipment in other departments and/or perform assembly functions, as directed to assist in meeting required production schedules, when required.
· Perform regular production area clean up during and at the end of each shift.
· Perform general plant clean up in various departments, when time permits
· Complete and submit maintenance requests when necessary.
· Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
· Participate in continuous improvement activities as required
· Adhere to Quality standards and procedures
· Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined.
