We are seeking a Conveyancing Assistant to join our Horsham office and support our team in managing residential and commercial property matters.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Essential:
  • Previous experience in an administrative or support role, preferably within a conveyancing or legal environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and third parties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with case management systems.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when handling legal documents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when required.
  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of conveyancing processes, including residential property transactions or leasehold matters.
  • Experience with Land Registry procedures or property search platforms.
  • Familiarity with the Horsham or West Sussex property market.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Conveyancing Assistant will provide administrative and legal support to our Conveyancing team, assisting with property transactions, including sales, purchases, remortgages, and leasehold matters. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a busy legal environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transaction Support: Assist solicitors with preparing and reviewing conveyancing documents, including contracts, transfer deeds, and Land Registry forms.
  • Client Communication: Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other parties to provide updates, gather information, and ensure smooth transaction progress.
  • Searches and Enquiries: Order and review property searches (e.g., local authority, environmental, and drainage searches) and raise or respond to enquiries as directed.
  • File Management: Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Administrative Tasks: Handle correspondence, schedule appointments, prepare completion statements, and assist with billing and time recording.
  • Land Registry: Assist with preparing and submitting Land Registry applications and handling post-completion formalities.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to regulatory standards, including Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) guidelines and firm policies.
