Description
What You Will Do as a Cook 1: Preparing (e.g. cleaning, cutting, slicing, mixing & texturizing) and cooking (e.g. baking, boiling & grilling) food for the individuals residing at the facility according to prescribed diets. Operation of commercial kitchen equipment. Storage of food with attention to expiration dates. Cleaning work area, equipment & utensils. This is an intermittent position - the hours of the dietary department are 8:00AM to 4:30PM M-F; however, there are no set days for this position. Intermittent appointments are limited to 1000 hours per fiscal year and are not eligible for health benefits or paid leave. The wage will remain at step 1 in the pay scale. Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in food preparation, sanitation & storage & use of food service equipment in institutional, school or restaurant setting. -Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
