Are you ready to elevate your culinary career to a world-class level? We’re looking for a passionate and creative Cook 2 to join our kitchen team at the Castle in the City – Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. If you’re eager to grow, take on new challenges, and be part of a historic, luxury hotel, this is your opportunity to shine!
VISA REQUIREMENTS:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Working the overnight shift, starting at 11:00 PM
- Delivering professional, friendly, and proactive service to our guests while supporting your fellow team members
- Assisting with food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation to create beautiful dishes
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards
- Managing kitchen inventory, ordering supplies, and keeping stock levels in check
- Keeping up to date with menu items, daily features, and promotions
- Following kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards to ensure consistency and quality
- Maintaining a safe, organized and efficient workspace
- Performing other duties as required to support smooth kitchen operations
Qualifications
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:
- Is creative and passionate about food and customer service
- Can thrive in a high-pressure environment
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and is a true team player
- Has a minimum of 1 year experience in the culinary field (banquet or restaurant experience preferred)
- Holds a Diploma/Certification in Culinary Arts (an asset)
- Has valid Food Safe certification
- Communicates clearly and effectively, both written and verbal
- Is enthusiastic, positive, and able to build trusting relationships with team members
- Has strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines with quality results
- Demonstrates problem-solving abilities and is highly responsible and reliable
- Can remain calm and courteous under pressure, always focused on the guest’s needs
- Is flexible and available to work a rotating schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late nights)
