Job Details Job Location: KT-Knoxville Area Command - Knoxville, TN 37917 Job Category: Food Service This position is responsible for: Plans, prepares, cooks, and serves nutritional meals and snacks per established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are prepared and served safely and presentably; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains an inventory of kitchen supplies and food neat and orderly manner. Key Responsibilities: Must follow all Site and Food Service Accreditation Standards. Preparation of food. Ensures that enough food is prepared based on the number of people to be served and that food is prepared in a timely manner as scheduled. Prepares and cooks food as the menu indicates utilizing frying, boiling, broiling, steaming, roasting of meat, poultry, seafood, fish, vegetables, salads, soups and gravies. Cleans, cooks, and prepares a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods. Serves food and beverages in a presentable manner. Assigns, instructs, and monitors work of Kitchen volunteers; ensures meals are prepared as planned. Maintains a high degree of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining room; ensures that all meals are prepared in a safe manner; ensures all kitchen personnel practice proper personal hygiene; ensures compliance with health regulations. Assists in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment such as clean and maintain all food-preparation and storage areas. Works with Kitchen Manager to maintain proper inventory. Stores, refrigerates, and freezes foods in a safe and economical manner; monitors expiration dates on all foods ensuring proper disposal of food with expired dates. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Some physical requirements of the Cook position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate cooking equipment and activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more.
