As a Residential Care Cook at Anglicare, you’ll lead and support kitchen operations to deliver nutritious, high-quality meals for our residents. Working closely with the Hospitality team, you’ll ensure food safety, support a positive team culture, and help create a welcoming, respectful dining experience in line with our Christian values. Your opportunity Reporting to the Head Chef, you will ensure that nourishing and healthy meals are planned and prepared for clients to a high standard and within budget, adhering to all aspects of health and safety. As Residential Care Cook, your duties will include: Ensures that production and distribution deadlines are met by directing, monitoring, training and coordinating the activities of subordinate staff to carry out all duties in a timely, economical and acceptable manner and in the efficient operation of your designated section. Ensures safe work practices are carried out within the safety, health, hygiene and cleanliness standards set by Anglicare and the relevant health authorities by maintaining Anglicare standards and operating procedures, including HACCP and WHS policies. Contributes to a hygienic work environment by cleaning and sanitising equipment, floors and work areas, removing waste from work areas and surrounds into bins, compacting and strapping cardboard, keeping the waste disposal area and bins in an orderly, hygienic and clean manner and utilising and maintaining a clean chemical storage area. Contributes to the maintenance of optimum food quality by checking ingredients, monitoring preparation, handling, cooking and storage procedures, and making suggestions aimed at improving food quality, work practices, procedures, and cleanliness standards. Contributes to the effectiveness of the whole team by leading and working in a cooperative way, participating in staff rotation into other sections, providing on-the-job training for section staff, reporting in a timely manner any safety, production and personnel issues to the Head Chef. Contributes to the development of the safety culture by keeping their workplace safe, clean and tidy, complying with site safety rules, reporting hazards, incidents, near misses and injuries to their supervisor, participating in workplace consultation activities and actively participating in any other safety activities as prescribed in the WHSIMS. Contributes to an understanding and respectful work environment and work practices, by valuing all people and giving rightful consideration of people’s cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as Australia’s first people. Ensures Anglicare’s Christian values and desired culture are maintained by working in accordance with Anglicare’s values and ensuring these among staff under the control of the position. Also promote and communicate Anglicare’s values to staff. Ensures professional, aligned and capable leadership to the team in line with the organisation’s Christian vision, mission, values and strategy, be a role model of the values, select capable and aligned staff, communicate and model the vision, strategy and organisational requirements to staff for a comprehensive understanding by staff. Ensures supervision and engagement with staff to build effective team relations, set expectations, praise and recognise good work constantly, develop staff in their roles and careers and build on their strengths, provide regular feedback on performance, and take timely corrective action to address unacceptable performance or conduct.
