  • Experience in a similar role as a cook or chef
  • Experience in preparing and cooking vegetables in large commercial quantities
  • The ability to manage and meet tight deadlines
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene and cleanliness standards for a food services environment (Knowledge of HACCP) and handling Food Safety Certificate (HLTFSE001)
  • A demonstrated understanding of food and beverage operations

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our dynamic Food Services Team at Grampians Health as a Cook! This exciting part-time role offers you the chance to craft diverse and delicious meals for our patients, residents, and clients.
Reporting to the Food Services Manager, you’ll work from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM on a 5-day rotating roster, no weekends or nights with opportunities to take on extra shifts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handles all aspects of meal preparation and service, including plating and delivery.
  • Completes cleaning tasks as scheduled and disposes of waste according to protocols.
  • Works to manage costs and minimize waste.
  • Accommodates diverse dietary needs and preferences, and checks requirements with a dietician.
  • Works cooperatively with the team, trains new employees, and rotates into senior roles as needed.
  • Orders kitchen supplies, checks deliveries, and communicates effectively with staff about changes.
