Description Summary Prepares soups, meats, vegetables, salads, dressings, and desserts for Bellewood and Brooklawn residents, staff and others by performing the following duties. Position Hours Monday – Thursday 6:00am - 2:00pm Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Oversee maintenance, operation and sanitation procedures for kitchen equipment, reporting any equipment malfunctions to the Food Service Coordinator. Ensure that the kitchen and dining room areas are kept clean and sanitary, and that pots, pans, dishes, and eating utensils are properly cleaned and sanitized in accordance with regulations and Bellewood and Brooklawn policy. Prepare appropriate and timely meals and snacks for all programs according to Bellewood and Brooklawn’ approved menu plan, being careful to utilize proper food handling practices. Prepare food and drink items for special meetings or events as needed. Maintain temperature charts for the freezer, walk-in refrigerator, reach-in refrigerators, dishwasher and items on the serving line. Oversee portion and inventory control. Maintain records as required for the School Breakfast/Lunch Program and other regulatory agencies. Receive, carefully inspect and properly store food deliveries in accordance with regulations and Bellewood and Brooklawn policy. Observe residents and their eating habits. Report unusual observations to the Food Service Coordinator. Make equal food substitutions when needed and record the substitution if the Food Service Coordinator is not present. Supervise residents in the Dietary Work Program following Bellewood and Brooklawn’ Policy and Procedures. Prepare cottage bins when assigned. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must be able to obtain Jefferson County Health Department food handling certification. Other Qualifications Must maintain training requirements defined by the USDA for school nutrition programs.
