Description
Bring Your Culinary Craft to a Place That Feeds the Soul. When you work at Freedom Village at Brandywine, you’re not just cooking meals — you’re nourishing lives. Each day, you’ll have a front-row seat to the wisdom, joy, and stories of the most remarkable generation. And you'll be part of an extraordinary company investing in the future of senior living — by investing in you. Don’t just do a job. Be part of an extraordinary life. We’re currently seeking a skilled, hospitality-driven Cook with strong culinary experience to join our team. If you're a chef-level professional with a heart for service and the chops to back it up, we’d love to meet you.   What You’ll Do: As a Cook in our Culinary Services Department, you’ll lead hands-on food production and bring creativity, consistency, and care to every dish. You’ll play a vital role in menu execution, dietary compliance, and the overall dining experience. You’ll work full-time (40 hours/week) with shifts typically between 11 AM – 7 PM — no late nights, and you only have to work every other weekend! Pay starts at $18–$20/hour, based on experience.   Key Responsibilities: * Prepare and present meals that meet high culinary and dietary standards — with both flavor and visual appeal. * Execute seasonal and rotating menus with precision, supporting the Executive Chef in recipe development and production. * Ensure top-tier kitchen operations: sanitation, organization, timing, and cleanliness. * Cook for special diets (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, pureed) according to community guidelines and resident needs. * Collaborate on daily prep and service, maintaining consistency and efficiency. * Interact with residents, gathering feedback to elevate the dining experience. * Mentor junior kitchen staff as needed and support a positive, professional kitchen culture. * Uphold company standards of hospitality, customer service, and presentation at all times.   What We’re Looking For: * Culinary degree strongly preferred or formal training * Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen (restaurant, hotel, or senior living) * Strong understanding of dietary requirements and safe food handling * A passion for creating elevated yet comforting meals with attention to detail * Positive attitude, team-first mindset, and a genuine love of serving others   Many positions at our community may require information on your vaccination status, including for MMR, hepatitis, varicella, influenza, and COVID-19. Please note: all employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or receive an approved exemption as a condition of employment.   If you're a compassionate culinary professional who believes food is an act of care, and who thrives in a team environment built on excellence and heart — we want to hear from you. Join us in redefining what senior dining can be. Apply today — and cook with purpose.
