The Cook must be reliable and fully competent in all aspects of kitchen duties and be able to produce a variety of menus, including catering for special dietary needs, whilst not exceeding the budget.
Prepare, cook and serve meals chosen by the Service Users from the menu for the day, using stock as required as economically as possible, whilst maintaining the quality without undue shortages or excesses
1. Store all food safely. Rotate stock and check “use by” dates regularly.
2. Observe safe refrigeration storage and temperature checks – recording them daily and ensure food is put to defrost safely for the following day.
3. Assist in serving meals to residents and check the temperature of all hot food before serving and record appropriately.
4. Ensure kitchen equipment is kept clean and ready for use and ensure all cleaning rotas are completed and handed to the Person-in-Charge at the end of each month.
5. Report any issues or faults, breakages or shortage of equipment supplies that may occur to the Chef Manager or Person-in-Charge.
