Cook – The Mountains Specialist Nursing Home
Location: Libanus, near Brecon, Powys LD3 8EN
Pay: £13.80 per hour
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 35 hours per week
Shifts: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM on a rota, including weekends and bank holidays (we aim to schedule every other weekend off)

About The Mountains
Set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, our specialist nursing home provides care to older adults aged 65+ living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and mental health conditions. With a focus on dignity, nutrition, and quality of life, we create a peaceful and respectful environment for both residents and staff.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals tailored to residents’ individual needs
  • Plan weekly menus in collaboration with residents and care staff
  • Present meals to a high standard and serve them on time
  • Monitor and order food supplies while staying within budget
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen following food hygiene standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a cook (care, school, or similar environment preferred)
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (essential); Level 3 or HACCP is a bonus
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements, allergens, and texture-modified diets
  • Confidence working independently and adapting meals for individual needs
  • A friendly, caring, and proactive approach to your work
