Description CRAWFORD COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING Cook – Senior Center Nutrition Program Organization: Crawford County Council on Aging, Inc. Location: Bucyrus, Ohio Schedule: Full-time – 6:30 am-3:00 pm (Monday – Friday) Reports To: Senior Center Director / Nutrition Program Manager About Us: Crawford County Council on Aging, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the health, independence, and well-being of older adults. Through our Senior Nutrition Program, funded in part by the Older Americans Act (Title III-C), we provide nutritious meals and opportunities for social engagement that help seniors remain active and connected in our community. Position Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals for participants in our Senior Center and Home-Delivered Meals program. The Cook prepares and serves balanced nutritional meals following standards established under the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program, while maintaining the highest levels of food safety, sanitation, and quality. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to approved menus, recipes, and portion guidelines that meet Title III-C nutrition standards. Ensure compliance with all local health department regulations and State Unit on Aging nutrition program requirements. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas and equipment. Monitor and record food temperatures, delivery logs, and other required documentation. Assist with inventory control, ordering, receiving, and rotating food and supplies. Support the delivery of meals for congregate dining and home-delivered meal routes. Work collaboratively with program staff and volunteers to provide a positive, respectful meal experience. Participate in required nutrition program trainings and food safety certifications. Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the senior nutrition program. Requirements Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum one year of experience in food preparation (senior center, cafeteria, healthcare, or nonprofit setting preferred). Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and nutrition principles for older adults. Ability to read and follow menus, recipes, and portion control standards. ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire. Strong organizational and teamwork skills. Compassionate, respectful attitude toward older adults and volunteers. Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
