Job DetailsJob Location: PMC-Sherman Avenue Corps - Washington, DC 20010Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or MoreEducation Level: High School Diploma/GEDSalary Range: $17.75 - $17.75 HourlyJob Category: Food ServiceSchedule/Hours: Part-time; 09:30 AM – 2:20 PM Monday, Wednesday – Friday This position is responsible for: Prepares, cooks, and serves nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner. Performs a variety of custodial duties; cleans bathrooms/common areas; washes, stores, and distributes linens; ensures the neatness and cleanliness of the Corps on a daily basis. Key Responsibilities: Cooks and serves meals a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods. Ensures that enough food is prepared based on the number of people to be served and that food is prepared in a timely manner. Serves food and beverages in a presentable manner; utilizes buffet line for self-services; and prepares plates for infants or persons requiring additional assistance. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Work requires the ability to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, use fingers, tools, or controls; and frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (50-100+ lbs.) materials, supplies and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle. Work will involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. And work with sharp and potentially dangerous equipment daily. The worker will work safely and effectively with all kitchen equipment. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU: High School or G.E.D. AND Six months experience working as a food service worker, prepping food for medium to large groups and six months experience performing general custodial duties. OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Licenses and Certifications: ServSafe Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment. Valid Driver’s License and must meet TSA MVR Requirements.
