This role supports smooth kitchen operations and ensures guests receive high-quality food in a timely manner. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards. * Assist with daily food preparation and ensure timely delivery of meals during service. * Maintain portion control and minimize food waste. * Ensure all food is prepared and presented according to brand standards. * Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen work areas and equipment. * Follow all food safety and handling procedures. * Assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, and storing food items properly. * Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor. * Support teamwork and communication with other kitchen staff and departments. * Assist with additional kitchen duties such as dishwashing or cleaning as needed. * Perform other duties as assigned while following all Company and Marriott Brand Standards. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS * High school diploma or equivalent preferred. * Previous food preparation or kitchen experience preferred. * Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations. * Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds. * Ability to stand and move throughout the kitchen for extended periods. * Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling. * Handling food, equipment, utensils, and kitchen tools. OTHER * Strong communication skills when working with kitchen staff and supervisors. * Reading and writing abilities for following recipes and completing kitchen logs. * Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and portioning. * Food handler certification required as per provincial regulations. * May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. * Work Area: Main kitchen and food and beverage service areas. HEALTH AND SAFETY * Follow safe work procedures as outlined in departmental policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment. * Comply with Occupational Health & Safety regulations in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ministry of Labour. * Report all injuries or illnesses immediately to a supervisor or manager. * Participate in Joint Health and Safety initiatives and bring forward concerns to the committee.
