Title: Cook/ Food Service Assistant, Part-time (25 hrs./wk.)
Reports to: Retreat Director/Operations Manager
Location: Our Lady of Perpetual Help Retreat Center | Venice, FL
Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in food preparation for banquet or restaurant kitchen.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to work holidays & weekends based on scheduling of retreats.
  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must pass FDLE Level II Background screenin

Responsibilities
  • Meal preparation for groups and individuals (max 125).
  • Assist in menu planning and meal service schedules, ensuring all health department and USDA requirements and guidelines are followed.
  • Maintains high standards of sanitation, food handling, preparation, and storage.
  • Operate food service equipment in accordance with appropriate procedures.
  • Assuring that the event space and dining room are set up for each meal service and break(s). This includes setting up dining tables, chairs and place settings with appropriate linens, silver, glassware, and condiments.
  • Breakdown of any break or food service at the conclusion of meal service, clearing/wrapping/dating/storing extra food.
  • Assist with directing volunteers on what is needed regarding meal service.
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned.
